A Letter to the Mom who feels overwhelmed
Dear Friend,
I know you feel like you are barely holding it together for the family and yourself. I know that you have felt tired and unseen for many, many days that are too many to count. Or maybe you are a new mother struggling with a baby who is not sleeping well, so you are not sleeping well either.
I want you to know that I see and understand the children and responsibilities you have been ‘carrying’ in your heart and on your shoulders. Keep on going. Your children see you and appreciate you being there for them, even though they do not tell you, or cannot tell you if they are infants. You see their appreciation for you when they shine their little smile at you, reach for your with their little hands and hug you.
I know a lot of days feel like survival, but it can get easier and better. These hard times will pass. But in the meantime, it is OK to feel like you just survived. Tomorrow is a new day with new hopes and rest. It is also OK to ask for help when you need it. Do not feel like you have to do everything on your own. 🙂
I know you might be feeling ’empty’, or ‘running dry’ after giving so much to your family and home. There are times when you need to refresh with deep breathing, prayer/meditation, a nap, or even a long bath or shower where no one calls on you! 😀 (Have you seen the meme where the mother takes a picture of the little hands under the door when she is in the restroom? 😀 That is the picture I see, or when the little ones call on you constantly and you feel like you need a little breather or space.) Do not feel guilty and it is OK to give yourself some grace and a break.
I hope you leave more encouraged than when you came here today and know that it will get better soon.
With hope,
Amanda
“Come to me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28
